Our audiologists and professional staff are among the most well-respected professionals in the area. Our audiologists have either Doctoral Degrees in Audiology or a Masters in Audiology, and are licensed and registered to practice audiology and hearing aid dispensing in the states of Maryland and Virginia. Our audiologists are affiliated with the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and/or American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Carolyn Horton, M.S., CCC-A, FAAA
Carolyn received a Master of Science degree in Audiology in 1984 from Illinois State University (Normal, IL). She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. Professional interests include hearing aids and assistive listening technologies. She has practiced in Illinois, Connecticut and Maryland, in both medical and educational settings. Ms. Horton is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners for Audiologists, holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Erika Diane Cole, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA
Erika received her Doctor of Audiology degree from James Madison University and her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University. She is originally from Virginia where she completed her audiology fellowship in a private practice and hospital setting before joining the staff at Advanced Hearing Centers in Maryland. The catalyst for her pursuit into the career of audiology was her personal experience as an audiology patient due to a unilateral hearing loss, which she has had since birth. Dr. Cole has her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, she is fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and a Maryland State Licensed Audiologist.
Kristin Krotz, Au.D., FAAA
Dr. Kristin Krotz, a native of Maryland , has been practicing as a licensed Audiologist for over 15 years. Her clinical experiences include hearing and balance assessments and rehabilitation in a medical ENT setting. Dr. Krotz has extensive experience performing audiological assessments, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), auditory brainstem testing (ABR), videonystagmography (VNG), vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and electrocochleography (ECochG). She has served pediatrics through geriatrics and has extensive experience dispensing hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Dr. Krotz received her doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from Salus University and is licensed by the MD Board of Examiners for Audiologists and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA). She is proficient in sign language.
Nancy Gould, M.Ed Nancy graduated from the University of Virginia with her Masters of Education in Audiology and her Bachelors’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology. She is originally from Virginia Beach , where her family still resides. Before joining Advanced Hearing, she worked as an Audiology Specialist at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Raleigh Ear, Nose, And Throat Associates. In addition, she brings her experience as a stress management counselor at Duke University , to help people feel comfortable about their hearing decisions. She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; she is licensed to practice audiology in Virginia and Maryland . Outside of audiology, Nancy enjoys music and the great outdoors. In her free time, you may find her playing her guitar with friends, teaching yoga, or swimming near the dolphins of Virginia Beach . She is happiest when traveling to visit family and friends
Nicole Kreisman, PhD CCC-A, FAAA

Dr. Scott Lanford received his Doctorate in Audiology form the University of North Texas in 2010. While enrolled at UNT, Dr. Lanford completed his clinical externship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA where he acquired experience in adult and pediatric hearing evaluations, hearing aid fitting, vestibular evaluation and evoked potentials. Dr. Lanford’s research interests led him to play an integral part of a team investigating the effects of musicians’ earplugs on playing performance. In May of 2006 he graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication disorders. Dr. Lanford has been providing outstanding care at Advanced Hearing Centers since July 2010.Dr. Lanford is currently a member of the American Academy of Audiology. He is nationally certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners for Audiologists. When he is not working hard to improve his patients’ hearing, he enjoys playing with his dog, cooking, playing golf and spending time with friends and family.
Shannon Wrabel, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA
Shannon received a doctorate in Audiology from Towson University, (Towson, Maryland). In 2000, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Her interests include hearing aids, assistive listening devices and the geriatric population. Dr. Wrabel is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners for Audiologists, holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Susan ReVeal-Ottone, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA
Susan earned her masters degree in audiology from Towson University in May 1999. and her doctorate in clinical audiology through the University of Florida in December 2005. Susan's career has taken her to a wide variety of settings, including but not restricted, to the MD VA, MD School for the Deaf, Baltimore County Public Schools, and working with the developmentally delayed population. Susan's interests center around diagnostic audiology and aural rehabilitation/habilitation with the pediatric to geriatric populations. Susan is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners for Audiologists and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Tanya Green, M.S. CCC-A
Tanya earned her masters degree in Audiology from Towson State University in 1994. She has 14 years of experience in audiology and has managed a wide variety of patients, including adult and pediatric populations. She possesses sign language skills and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the Maryland Board of Examiners. Tanya's professional interests are diagnostic hearing evaluations, amplification, and patient and family counseling with respect to hearing loss and its effects.
Thomas Frank, M.S, CCC-A, FAAA
Tom is a native of Richmond, Va; who moved to Fredericksburg in 1981 to take a position in audiology and hearing aid sales. He has lived in Fredericksburg ever since. Tom earned his Master of Science degree in Audiology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1979. Now with 30 years of experience working with the hearing impaired, he has worked in hospital, ENT offices, community speech & hearing center, equipment sales, and private practice settings. He was appointed by Governor Warner to serve on the Commonwealth's Board of Hearing Aid Specialists for a 4 year term in 2003. He was recently reappointed by Governor Kaine and serves as the Board Chair. Tom is a member of the board of the Fredericksburg Disability Resource Center and the local Chamber of Commerce. Tom is licensed by the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiologists, holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
